A magnificent Samba school parade and enchanting carnival!

Friday 6.6.

Grand opening will be at the Esplanade Park at 19-20.

The program includes the Carnaval royalty coronation and a competition for new carnival outfits. The Samba school flag bearers, Forca Natural and Sambic will be performing for the crowds. The Carnival king is Sedu Koskinen, a well known Finnish restaurateur, with the Carnival queen being Satu Markkanen, the developer of Bailatino® and known from the Finnish “Dancing with the Stars” television program.

Friday night will continue in Studio 51 (Fredrikinkatu 51-53) in Clube Carnival –feelings at 21-04. On offer astounding treats for friends of latino music: Eddy McLean (Panama) & orchestra will be performing together with samba schools União da Roseira from Tampere and A Bunda from Gothenburg, as-well-as the dance group Chicas del Clan.

Tickets are available for 25€ (preordered), from both Lippupalvelu and Tiketti. A full weekend pass is available for 40€.

Saturday 7.6.

On Saturday the street carnival is coming to down town Helsinki! The program starts at Senaatintori at 12, when the groups participating in the carnival parade will be performing. The first group will start from Senaatintori at 15:00, following the route Unioninkatu – Pohjoisesplanadi – Mannerheimintie – Kolmen sepän aukio (three smith’s plaza on Mannerheimintie) with the other groups pursuing.

During the weekend there will be Brazil themed movies by Mika Kaurismäki displayed in the Bossa restaurant (Annankatu 21) and at the Andorra (Eerikinkatu 11) movie theater. On top of this there will be live music from Friday to Sunday at restaurant Bossa. For children there will be a Baile do Mirim –party at restaurant Bossa on Saturday night.
